Katy and Rebekah had such a wonderful day yesterday for their wedding at Breckenhill. Our first outdoor ceremony of the year, on the back lawn, in glorious sunshine. The gorgeous flowers and flower arch, which then was moved to the barn, were created by the fabulous @velvetpeonies The elegant cake was made by @baked_by_rachel_ni

We love it when our suppliers collaborate! Here’s some top table fabulousness for our Wedding Open Day yesterday, by the wonderful florist Matt from @bloom_barn along with table number bottles and tiles (these can be personalised with dates, location, names and photos!) made by the lovely Crystal from @thesnowdropworkshop
This all worked so well with our rustic trestle tables and flower circle backdrop.
The bottles and tiles would also make lovely keepsake mementos and gifts on the day.

Pond life! Great to see school groups using our k

Pond life! Great to see school groups using our kayaks on the pond! A Shared Education day for two Belfast schools. There were a few capsizes but lots of happy faces. There’s plenty of other life in the pond too, second photo is of snail eggs, clinging to the stem of some pondweed. And a quieter moment this evening, paddling gently, watched by Eithne the lab!

A week already, since the happiest of days for Caitlin and Caitlin! A lovely, simply styled, fun, colourful and personal day, with lots of input from friends and family. We can’t help thinking they’re far too young to know the bands they chose for their table names, but hey, what do we know? But we’re definitely old enough! Loved the music, girls! And we had some fun with the baby Guinness shots! I’m sure the professional shots by the lovely @jumpthebroomphotography will really do the day justice.

We had a fantastic day with the Year 10s from St Benedict’s, Randalstown, on Friday. The sun shone and the children really rose to the challenges put before them. Great to see the school groups again, we’re looking forward to a busy summer!

A busy Saturday with the fantastic group from @met

A busy Saturday with the fantastic group from @metalforlifeni who helped us coppice our hazel grove, and cut some dying ash trees. The hazel stumps will regrow with strong, straight stems which will make brilliant supports for the garden, or can be woven into hurdles to make natural barriers to protect young plants or hide unsightly areas of the garden (eg compost heaps!) or make a windbreak. They admired our willow arbour too! We also had a scout group for bushcraft, building shelters was a little tricky in the wind! And finally there was a fun Splatmaster paintball session for a 10th birthday party. Whew!

Between the storms, we made a living willow arbour

Between the storms, we made a living willow arbour! Cutting our own willow stems from trees just behind this, and pushing them into a trench filled with a mix of soil and leaf mould, twisting and tying as we went, it was great fun and so satisfying! The last part was weaving the angled stems through the upright stems. Now we just wait for it to grow! A bench here will be a perfect spot to rest and for wedding photos. Thanks to Phoebe and LeAnna from Arizona for their hard work over the last month, ending with this lovely project! And Eithne the Labrador, as always.
